DAWSONVILLE, GA — 4/12/24 — VRD Racing is thrilled to announce the addition of Axel Robards to the VRD Academy. Robards has already begun his on-track training at Atlanta Motorsports Park. With a karting background, Axel’s integration into the VRD Racing Academy is a crucial step toward preparing him for a full season in the USF Juniors Series.
USF Juniors Team Manager Jacob Loomis expressed his enthusiasm about Axel’s addition to the academy lineup. “We’re very pleased to add another driver to the VRD Academy. This step in a young driver’s career is extremely important, and we’re excited Axel has joined us to do it. I think this is what makes us so different from any other team in the paddock, and our results are showing just that.”
The VRD Academy is the first step in a driver’s open-wheel career and provides an ideal platform for drivers to learn the differences between karts and cars in a pressure-free environment. The goal of the VRD Academy is to prepare drivers for the USF Juniors Series, the first rung in the USF Pro Championships ladder that prepares drivers for INDYCAR.
Axel Robards shared his thoughts on joining the VRD Academy: “I am super excited to start the next phase in my racing career with VRD. I am extremely thankful to work with Dan, Jacob, and the rest of the VRD team. Here comes the Axe Man!”
Now in its fourth year, the VRD Academy has successfully trained multiple drivers who have moved up the USF Pro Championships and Formula ladders. In recent years, VRD Academy drivers such as Hunter Yeany, Nikita Johnson, and Max Garcia have all found success in the USF Pro Championships and in European Formula.
